Course Description
Techniques in
Central Service
for
SPD Technicians
“Techniques in Central Service” is designed to prepare the student to successfully complete the National Certification Examination. The course provides students with information and principles upon which they may base decisions and work in the field of Central Service and Materials Management.
The Course Material will include sterilization, processing, instrumentation, handling and distributing medical supplies, trays, and equipment. The course is open to all who wish to learn about cleaning, sterilizing, disinfecting, and medical supply processing. Also welcome are persons presently employed in Central Service, Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery, Infection Control, Materials Management, and Supervisors responsible for these areas.

Eligibility Requirements:
This course is designed for anyone interested in getting into the field of Central Service/Sterile Processing.
There is a clinical requirement of 400 hours at a primary care facility prior to taking the International Certification examination.
